Those immigrants who wish to sponsor their relatives for the Permanent Residence can now begin the process through the website of the Office of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
The agency indicated that as of October 30, petitioners can complete and submit Form I-130, Petition for a Foreign Family Member, which will help to process their requests more easily, since they would be digitized from the beginning.
“Form I-130 is one of the most widely submitted USCIS forms,” said USCIS interim director Ken Cuccinelli.
In total, immigrants can now make eight types of petitions online:
- Form I-90, Application to replace permanent residence card
- Form N-336, Request for a hearing on a decision in naturalization procedures
- Form N-400, Naturalization Request
- Form N-600K, Application for citizenship and issuance of certificate under Section 322
To submit these forms online, people must first create a USCIS online account at myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov. This free account allows them to:
The petitioners may send the corresponding documentation of each case, pay the corresponding amount and follow the process online, in addition to receiving notifications from the agency, as well as responding to requests for further evidence.
In addition to this new way of submitting the formulation, USCIS still accepts the latest paper version of all forms by regular mail.
